Royal Marines Commandos with Alpha Company 40 Commando become shrouded in a dust cloud thrown up by helicopters taking off after inserting the force. A Coy were carrying out an helicopter assault operation North of HMS (MOB) Price, Nahr-e Saraj district, Helmand Province, in January 2013.
A Company are one of 6 Companies within the Taunton-based 40 Commando, along with Bravo, Charlie, Delta, its Command Company and a Logistic Company. 40 Commando was the last regular Royal Marines element to deploy to Afghanistan. The unit returned home in April 2013, having completed Operation Herick 17, where it was deployed as part of 4th Mechanized Brigade.
