A 3-man boat team with the beach recce team with the Squadron Reconnaissancce Team (SRT), 539 Assault Squadron Royal Marines (539 ASRM) ride in a inflatable raiding craft (IRC) or 'Zodiac' during a NATO exercise, November 2015.
The Squadron Recce Team is an element of 539 ASRM Amphibious Beach Unit. Their primary role is to perform beach reconnaissance ahead of a 3 Commando Brigade amphibious landing.
The SRT typically operates in 6-man teams, split into 2 IRCs. They launch their IRCs from vessels, from surfaced submarines or from helicopters. All SRT members are trained in reconnaissance and small boat skills.
