Royal Marine With LSW
photo category: royal marines

A Royal Marine takes aim with a LSW (light support weapon) at a range in Australia. The LSW is variant of the SA80 rifle. It fires 5.56mmx45mm rounds from a 30-round magazine. The lack of a belt-feed mechanism means the LSW cannot lay down sustained automatic fire, limiting its effectiveness as a support weapon. The longer barrel, coupled with 4x4 Susat sights and stabilizing bi-pod, does make for an accurate weapon and the LSW is sometimes used as a quasi-sniper rifle.
