A UK Special Forces soldier (
22nd Special Air Service /
Special Forces Support Group) pictured with his US counterpart during operations in Iraq. Between 2003 and 2009, the SAS, supported by the SFSG, carried out numerous raids against various Baathist and Al Qaeda targets, detaining hundreds of prisoners, gathering intelligence and killing terrorists. The British special forces task group deployed to Iraq was known as
Task Force Black (later renamed to Task Force Knight when its original moniker became publicly known).
Task Force Black was stationed next door to their US counterparts, Task Force Green, which was made up of operators from
Delta Force, supported by members of the 75th Ranger Regiment.
