SAS Selection Retry Criteria To Change?
17.10.2011
The Express newspaper reports on potential changes to the grueling selection process for the 22nd Special Air Service (SAS). SAS officers are reportedly considering allowing candidates to have 3 attempts at passing the selection course rather than the 2 currently allowed.
The proposed changes are a response to ongoing recruitment and staffing level problems in the regiment. Battlefield casualties from 10 years of fghting the War On Terror, coupled with the loss of one of the primary draws of joining the special forces: a unique oportunity to see combat, has led to several SAS Troops operating at reduced strength.
